Privacy Policy

The Take ("the app", "we") is a daily medical-education game suite for students and clinicians. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the app, and we do not sell your data or use it for third-party advertising.

What we collect

• Account (Sign in with Apple): a private Apple user identifier, and — only if you choose to share them — your name and a relay email address. We never receive your real Apple ID password.
• Gameplay data: your puzzle results, scores, and streak, stored against your account so your progress syncs across devices.
• Usage analytics: aggregate, de-identified events (e.g. a game was completed, a result was shared) via Firebase Analytics, used to improve the app.
• Crash diagnostics: crash and error reports via Firebase Crashlytics so we can fix bugs. Disabled in development builds.
• Notifications: a device push token via Firebase Cloud Messaging, only if you enable notifications, so we can send the daily reminder. You can turn this off in iOS Settings at any time.
• Leaderboards: if you enable Game Center, your scores are submitted to Apple Game Center under Apple's own privacy terms.
• Device integrity: Firebase App Check uses Apple's App Attest to confirm requests come from a genuine copy of the app. It does not identify you.

How we use it

To provide and sync your daily games, maintain streaks and leaderboards, send reminders you opt into, understand aggregate usage, and diagnose crashes. We do not use your data to build advertising profiles.

Where it lives

Data is processed by Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging, App Check) on our behalf. The Firestore database is hosted in the European multi-region. Apple processes Sign in with Apple and Game Center data under its own policies.

Retention and deletion

We keep your account data until you delete your account. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account); this removes your user record and gameplay history. You can also email us to request deletion.

Children

The Take is intended for medical students and clinicians (adults). It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including the UK and EEA under UK GDPR / GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise them, contact us below.

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
